Bessie Kaye

KAYE, BESSIE O.
Bessie (Nanny) Kaye, 89, died Thursday, May 1st, 2008.

She was born on April 4th, 1919 in Montreal, Canada to Minnie and Hyman O’ Brand. She moved to Los Angeles with her family when she was three years old. She graduated from Jefferson High School in 1937.

Bessie married Sidney Kaye on January 1st, 1938 in Los Angeles, California. They were happily married for 51 years. Bessie and Sidney owned Kotch’s Bakery on Pico Boulevard in Los Angeles for over 25 years.

She is survived by her daughters; Adri-Ann Harris, Suzanne Varela and son-in-law Robert Varela. Her grandchildren and great grandchildren; Michael, Heather, Eva and Weston Harris, Joey, Tiffany and Josiah Jenkins, Becky, Mario, Sydney and Mario Perez, Bryan Jenkins, Jennifer, Scott, Hannah, Spencer and Logan Kain.

Bessie was proceeded in death by her husband Sidney and her six siblings; Gloria, Moe, Joseph and David O’ Brand, Anne Brewer and Lillian Raskin.

She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt and friend and she will be greatly missed.
