Sheldon Shapiro

SHAPIRO, Sheldon. Born January 8, 1930 in Chicago, Illinois. Died
April 10, 2008, peacefully at his home in South Bend, Indiana.
Predeceased by his parents, Max and Shoshana Shapiro and his wife,
Charlotte. Survived by his son Stuart and daughter-in-law, Kim, and
grandsons, Benjamin and Matthew of Merrimack, New Hampshire. He is
also survived by family members, Marshall and Molly Sashkin of
Memphis, Tennesee, and Lee and Larry Sashkin of Laguna Woods,
California. A graduate of the University of California at Berkeley
and UCLA, Sheldon continued his academic career by teaching in the
Department of History at Indiana University at South Bend until his
retirement. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Sheldon's
memory to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.
