Rhoda Fox

Fox, Rhoda
Rhoda Outevsky Fox has died at the age of 84. She will be greatly missed by her husband, Ray, sons David and Danny, daughters-in-law Isabelle and Anne, grandchildren Jackson and Makena, and the many, many friends and former students touched by her life.
Rhoda was born in Washington Heights, New York in 1926. She attended Hunter College, and graduated in 1946 with both a Bachelor’s degree in Social Work and a Teaching Credential. Rhoda began her teaching career in Harlem. She moved to Los Angeles in 1954, where she met and married the love of her life, and started a family. Rhoda continued to teach, and volunteer for many organizations, including Chairing a commission for the City of San Bernardino establishing Harrison Canyon Park in a neighborhood devastated by a flood. Rhoda served with distinction on the San Bernardino County Grand Jury, and was very active in the Jewish community of San Bernardino. As a dedicated member of Temple Emanu El, Rhoda was Principal of the religious school, and won the prestigious Norman F. Feldheym Award for her service to the synagogue. Rhoda was also known for her fabulous chicken soup with matzo balls.
