Ted Chanock

TED CHANOCK, JR.
Born in Chicago , Illinois in 1930 and died on February 13, 2010. Beth Miriam Chanock, his most beautiful and cherished Wife for more than 35 years, preceded him in death in 2003. Survived by his Family: Brother, Robert (Catherine); Children: Ted III and Robert ( Victoria ), Linda Byerly (Jim), and Dr. Jeffrey Klemes (Sarina); Grandchildren Austin, Alexandra, Darren, Allison & Danielle;and loving companion, Reiko Pultz.
He attended Claremont McKenna College (CMC) and graduated with a B.A. degree in 1952, was past Treasurer of CMC Alum Assoc. Initially after graduation, he worked as a Contract Administrator at Hughes Aircraft Co. in the R&D Division, Aerospace Group.
Involved in many enterprises throughout the ensuing years, he helped found Thermalelectric Engineering in the late 50’s, which manufactured fire detection & heat sensing devices. This was sold to Walter Kidde Co, and he then acquired ownership and was operator of Clear View Cable TV Systems and Sausalito Cable TV. After their successful growth, he sold them to CBS/Viacom. He then went on to become Western Regional Manager for Teleprompter Corp and a VP of Century Cable TV. He was an active Board Member of The California Cable TV Association for many years.
In the late 70’s, he became a partner, co-owner-operator of many automobile dealerships in Valencia and Santa Monica, including, Honda, Acura, Jeep, Saab and Mitsubishi. He was president of the So Cal Auto Dealer’s Assoc and was an active President of the Auto Division of the So. Cal Jewish Welfare Federation.
In addition to his family and business responsibilities, he and his wife, Beth, were also ardent supporters of many charitable organizations, including Guide Dogs for the Blind, Children’s Burn Foundation, The Music Center, and The Sabin Vaccine Institute.
